Riding for Focus (R4F) is a school-based cycling program created by Outride.
Riding for Focus is designed to integrate cycling into the school day as part of physical education or wellness programming. Developed as a result of our research findings, R4F is designed to help young riders build confidence and skills on the bike. Eligible schools may receive a grant to establish a program, which includes a fleet of bikes and curriculum. Learn more below.

WHAT OUTRIDE PROVIDES
Eligible schools may receive an in-kind grant to establish a R4F program in their community which includes:
A fleet of bikes and helmets sized for students
An adaptable, evidence-based curriculum that can be integrated into PE or wellness classes
Teacher training and professional development
Program evaluation tools to measure impact
Ongoing technical assistance and community support
Who Can Apply?
Public middle schools and school districts serving students from low-income communities.

Apply online by February 28th, 2026.
Internal review and scoring. See scoring rubric here.
Selected schools are invited to interview with Outride staff on a rolling basis.
Schools are notified of award decision on a rolling basis.
All schools will be notified by mid-April.
