ELIGIBILITY

To receive a program grant:

  • Public (Traditional or Charter), Title 1 recipient (or serving 40%+ students receiving free and reduced lunch), middle school (grades 5-8).

  • A consortium of a public, Title 1 middle school and a local nonprofit partner for implementation support (all equipment and materials will be distributed to the school)

Any school or organization may purchase the program, but we will not grant to:

  • Independent, private, or for profit schools

  • standalone nonprofits

  • non-school government agencies

Institutions that are ineligible for the program grant may purchase the program from Outride.

GRANT TERM

  • As a grantee, schools are required to report (i.e conduct the program evaluation protocol) each time they run the unit for three years (program years).

Selection Criteria

  • Riding for Focus schools are selected based on a formula that weighs:

    • The need and demographics of the students served

    • Capacity to be a good steward of grant materials (bikes, helmets, etc.)

    • Mission alignment

    • Interview with program staff

    • Availability of grant materials

We assess each grant in the order we receive the applications.
