Dr. Katie Mommaerts
Katherine Mommaerts, PhD, MSW, LCSW Dr. Mommaerts earned a PhD in Interdisciplinary Health, focusing on Health Equity and Psychosocial Health, from Northern Arizona University, and a master’s in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Currently an Assistant Professor in NAU’s Department of Social Work, she brings over a decade of clinical, supervisory, and leadership experience across diverse settings, including integrated care, community behavioral health, hospice, and schools. A licensed clinical social worker and certified personal trainer, her work integrates interdisciplinary approaches in both research and practice. Her research centers on mental health and health disparities, particularly among adolescents. She holds certificates in Infant/Family Clinical Practice and Infant/Family Studies from the Harris Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Training Institute. She is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, serves on the Coconino Hispanic Advisory Council, and is the treasurer for Flagstaff Youth Riders.
