Fionnuala Quinn

Fionnuala Quinn is a national leader in traffic garden design and the founder of Discover Traffic Gardens, an initiative that brings child-centered street safety education to communities through high-quality, rapid-build installations and creative engagement. With decades of civil engineering experience, she collaborates with local teams to guide projects from concept to completion—supporting design, installation, and educational programming.


Fionnuala has designed traffic gardens in eight states and authored guides for cities such as Philadelphia, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., as well as for state and local DOTs. Her work spans numerous pop-up demonstrations and permanent installations. She regularly presents at conferences, leads site tours, and speaks on webinars to introduce the concept and its benefits.


Through hands-on workshops and custom STEM kits, she has engaged hundreds of children in playful, active learning. Her work transforms underused spaces into vibrant community assets, helping children build confidence and navigate their world safely.
