VeloCity Cycling in Pewaukee, Wisconsin supports Waukesha STEM Academy-Saratoga, as the Specialized Foundation Riding for Focus middle school retail champion. The VeloCity Cycling staff  built up the bikes for the program and provides ongoing maintenance. Store Manager Stephen Wagstaff said he's pleased that people understand that VeloCity is more than just selling bikes. "Our goal is getting a good place for the community to gather around." The shop support for multiple cycling teams and student riding programs is a sure way to get there. In addition to supporting the Riding for Focus program,  VeloCity Cycling also sponsors multiple cycling teams, including an elite and masters team, along with support for Pewaukee High School's mountain bike team and a women’s group Tour de Friends. The staff even eeks out time to build and maintain local trails too. Stephen commented, “there is no downside to supporting the Riding for Focus program—we are passionate about riding and want to share that passion with a younger generation to make them life-long cyclists”.

VeloCity has also been integral in sponsoring and supporting the efforts of Project Echelon with equipment, mechanics, and indoor training. Both VeloCity and Stem Academy Riding for Focus Champion Eric Hill believe strongly in the power of physical activity and use it as a tool to accomplish their mission of engaging, educating and empowering veterans, their families, and community--in sync with the mission of The Specialized Foundation using cycling as a tool for children to achieve academic, health and social success.

Opened last year, VeloCity opened “The HandleBar” next to the shop to serve as a community gathering place and events venue to hang out for some bike talk and to watch one of the Spring Classics on a big screen. The café has been a boost to the local economy and brings in new customers to check out the bikes next door and serves as the starting point for many group rides. The goal of the hang-out, that just celebrated its first anniversary, is to build community and camaraderie  and for the cyclists to share their love of bikes and maybe a beer too.
