Outride Business Development and Communications Specialist

Outride is a non-profit organization that provides research, cycling programs, and funding to empower all people to experience the social, emotional, and cognitive benefits of cycling. You’ll provide expertise in executing regular communications and marketing initiatives geared at building donor relationships, and strategic partnerships with endemic and non-endemic brands, and keeping our base of supporters, partners, and collaborators informed about the impact of our work especially via earned media. 

How you’ll make a difference

  • Co-develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aimed at securing new donors and establishing new partnerships to support our work and increase long-term sustainability. 

  • Support marketing, communications, and public relations projects to enhance the visibility of Outride’s work externally via earned and owned media.

  • Regularly develop relationships with reporters.

  • Write copy and execute the creative direction of Outride, by collaborating with senior staff and program managers. 

  • Oversee all Outride communication channels including but not limited to; Outride’s website, newsletter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, earned media, and paid media.

  • Work closely with program staff to communicate impact, reach, and theory of change to prospective donors, supporters, and collaborators. 

  • Manage contractors as necessary.

What you need to win

  • 2+ years of experience in public relations, or corporate social impact, development, donor management, or philanthropy required.

  • Experience in the sports / physical activity space or health systems / public health highly preferred. 

  • Connection to and understanding of the trends of youth cycling, cycling in aging populations, and cycling nonprofits.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute marketing and communications initiatives that lead to donor relationships, commitments, and sustained engagement.

  • Demonstrated ability to place earned media stories in endemic and non-endemic outlets. 

  • Ability to clearly communicate your ideas and goals verbally, in writing, and in imagery.

  • Curiosity, creativity, and the readiness to take risks.

  • Must be a self-starter with a high degree of proactivity, yet collaborative and able to take direction.

  • Based in Morgan Hill, California, Boulder, Colorado or Salt Lake City, UT – This is not a remote position. Morgan Hill or Boulder is highly preferred.

Below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company if based in the following locations:

California Base Pay Range: $55,228 - $91,126

Colorado Base Pay Range: $52,467 - $83,532
